Calgary solutions for water damaged RV units.
No RV is immune to the effects that undetected water damage can inflict, especially older campers and motorhomes.
Avoid costly repairs
If you've spotted stains, delamination, or bubbles along the walls near windows, doors or along the floor, it is advisable to have it checked by an RV professional right away. Ignored water damage only gets worse.
Left alone, a small leak can turn into structural rot or a mold issue. Catching it early is the difference between a quick repair and a major rebuild.
DIY or professional?
If you suspect your RV is at risk, be aware that you always have options. Many RV enthusiasts have a do-it-yourself, can-do attitude, and there is no shortage of products on the market to help you seal up those troublesome leaky spots.
However, if the damage you've detected is significant, you're better off taking your RV to a professional who can get to the source of the problem and rectify it in the best way. At Horton RV Services, we specialize in water leak repairs.
Common questions
How do I know if my RV has a water leak?
The early signs are stains on the ceiling or walls, soft or spongy spots in the floor, bubbling or waviness in the sidewall, and a musty smell after the unit has been closed up. Any one of those is worth having looked at before the next season.
What is delamination, and can it be repaired?
Delamination is the sidewall skin separating from the material bonded behind it, usually because water got into the wall. If the separation is caught while it is still dry, it can often be re-bonded. Once water has been in long enough to rot the backing, the repair becomes structural and the affected section has to be opened and rebuilt.
Can you find the leak if I have no idea where it is coming from?
Yes. Water rarely shows up where it gets in. We trace the stain or soft spot back to the actual entry point, whether that is a roof seam, a window, a corner moulding or a failed sealant joint, and we seal the source as part of the repair.
How quickly do I need to deal with a leak?
Sooner is cheaper. Alberta freeze and thaw cycles push water further into the wall every season, and a small leak that costs little to seal turns into rot and a rebuild if it sits through a couple of winters.
